Folic acid reduces stroke risk

According to a study published on JAMA in April 2015, folic acid was found to significantly reduce the risk of stroke in patients with hypertension.

The study included more than 20000 Chinese adults with hypertension but no history of stroke or heart disease. Some participants used enalapril (a hypertension drug) and folic acid, while others used enalapril alone.

During the 4.5-year treatment period, 282 participants (2.7%) in the enalapril folic acid group had first stroke, while 355 participants (3.4%) in the enalapril group had a risk reduction of 0.7% and a relative risk reduction of 21%.

We recommend better foic acid:
Magnafolate® L Methylfolate—maximizes the supplementation delivering a "finished" folic acid the body can immediately use without any kind of metabolization.
